Rise : उदाउनु

"Rise : उदाउनु” is a series created to raise awareness and funds following the April and May 2015 earthquakes in Nepal.

 

A collaboration with Jay Poudyal, the paintings are based on Stories of Nepal photographs and interviews. This series captures the beauty and endurance of Nepalese people. The Nepalese word "उदाउनु" (“udāunu”) is often used in reference to the rising of the sun, moon and stars in the sky. Like dawn after a dark night, this too will pass and faith, hope and love will remain.

All of the pieces use Nepalese black tea to stain the paper, followed by a combination of ink, pastel, colored pencil, acrylic and oil paint.
